Singapore Police Force and National Crime Prevention Council Delta Soccer League

Event:Singapore Police Force and National Crime Prevention Council Delta Soccer League
Venue: Jalan Besar Stadium

Welcome to the 10th edition of Delta Soccer League!

DELTA LEAGUE is a youth engagement programme aimed at keeping youths meaningfully occupied during the school holidays in June and December, and raising their awareness of the consequences of being involved in crime. Organised by SPF and NCPC with the strong support of the community, it is into its 10th edition in Dec 2015. Using football as the key platform of engagement, Delta League then draws the youths into a series of self-improvement and crime awareness activities. The aim of this unique programme is clear and simple – to work with community partners to engage our youths during the entire school holiday period. This is achieved by harnessing the energy of the youths through football and healthy activities that help steer them away from crime and mischief, and at the same time develop their sense of social responsibility. Throughout the process, opportunities and guidance are provided to encourage their
personal development. Delta League is truly unique as it is not just a sports tournament. Beyond the football matches, the youths are given opportunity to interact with Police officers and life coaches, as well as to take part in satellite community and crime prevention activities.

The Kendama Challenge

Event: The Kendama Challenge
Venue: Lot One Shopping Mall

Kendama (けん玉 ?, also written as 剣玉 and 拳玉) is a traditional Japanese toy. The ken has three cups and a spike which fits into the hole in the ball. Basic kendama tricks consist of catching the ball in the cups and on the spike. More advanced tricks such as the airplane require you to hold the ball and land the spike in the hole on the ball.

Kendama bears similarities to the classic cup-and-ball game, and the Hispanic world toy known as boliche or balero. The principle of these toys are the same: catching one object with another, where both are joined by a string. However the modern kendama style takes influences from a diverse range of skills including yo-yo, diabolo, juggling and dance.

Welcome to the Kendama Challenge! We had over 90 contestants taking part today. The first round was the qualifying round and categorized into beginner, intermediate and advanced level. We were honoured to have Dan and Jaspers from Kendama Fox to judge the contest and award the prizes to the winners. Check out their website www.kendamafox.com.

People's Association Youth Movement Chingay 2015 Appreciation Night

Event: People's Association Youth Movement Chingay 2015 Appreciation Night
Venue: Wavehouse Sentosa

This appreciation dinner is held to recognize the dedication of PAYM volunteers that were a part of this year’s Chingay Parade 2015. Whether you were a performer or as a subcommittee member, you have been a part of this awesome journey and this night belongs to you!

At the Chingay Parade Singapore 2015, PAYM formed a 800 strong youth contingent.  The performance saw the youths danced amongst 150 Trees of Hopes in a magical forest of Dreams. And in recognition of this showpiece, the Contingent clinched the “Chingay Champion of the Year” and “Best Audience Contingent” Awards for Chingay Parade 2015. This performance was aptly called the “Dance of Passion, Aspirations of Youths”.

This performance could only be made possible with six months of sacrifice and commitment put in by YOU, the subcommittee members and performers of the PAYM Chingay Contingent 2015!

Thank you to all Chingay participants that have made this possible!!
