Tonight, East Coast GRC truly felt like the heart of the Chingay 2026, as rehearsals wrapped around 6 pm and the field buzzed with bouncy castles, game booths, agency engagements, and food scents drawing in crowds from Bedok and East Coast. The Chingay 2026 “Wish” theme shone through the Singapore Book of Records star installation, where residents penned dreams, and PAssionCare QR scans earned Yuu points while donating to the community.

Over 4000 residents and guests this evening!

Make a wish with Chingay 2026!

Taking the stage at 6.30 pm, I opened in English and Mandarin, introducing live bands by MissChief and Substation, dances from IAEC, CACC, and ITE, soul percussion, LED dragon dance, float procession, and fireworks finale. Three LED live streams built anticipation for the floats, sparking resident interactions on wishes and neighbourhood dreams, while performances—from multicultural ethnic dances to the Chingay Showcase with Orchid Dancers and festival segments—weaved Singapore's multiracial story. Booths like UNESCO storytelling, NEA upcycling, POSB financial literacy, and Huawei video creation added layers of education and fun.

The floats' arrival lit up the venue, leading to a fireworks climax at 9.50 pm with a collective countdown, sending wishes skyward and capping the Singapore Book of Records moment. Closing at 9.55 pm with thanks to partners and a clean-up reminder, I left grateful for Bedok’s vibrant night of lights, wishes, and shared community spirit.

On 28 February 2026, I had the privilege of joining residents at the pavilion in front of COURTS at Toa Payoh Central for a meaningful Lunar New Year celebration dinner. The evening began with an energetic high-pole lion dance, setting a festive tone as we welcomed our Grassroots Adviser, Cai Yinzhou, whose address reminded us of the importance of service and community spirit.

The entertainment segment kept spirits high, from the soulful vocals of Jeff Ng, to the lively getai performance by Zhu Li Li, and a nostalgic Teresa Teng tribute by Zhou Xiaowan. As we ended the night singing classic New Year songs together, I left feeling grateful for the shared warmth and strong bonds that make Toa Payoh such a special community.

BHP volunteers celebrated the Lunar New Year with the AWWA Home & Day Activity Centre (AH & DAC) in a morning filled with festive joy and community spirit. The event featured an energetic Lion Dance, a captivating roving magic performance by Tommy, and a lively Lohei session led by me!

Our beneficiaries and volunteers shared laughter over lunch and karaoke, before closing remarks from Agnes Goh, Michiel Hovers, and Mr. Bruce Liew, who accepted the heartfelt generosity on behalf of AWWA. The celebration perfectly captured the spirit of togetherness and renewal — a meaningful start to the Year of the Horse.

The Woodgrove Chinese New Year Dinner 2026 at Fuchun Community Club brought residents, grassroots leaders and community partners together for an evening of unity and celebration. Festive fringe activities, vibrant dragon and lion dance performances, and the symbolic group Lou Hei set the tone for prosperity and togetherness. We were honoured by the presence of Hany Soh, whose participation and Chinese New Year message reaffirmed her commitment to the Woodgrove community.
