Chua Chu Kang’s National Day 2026 celebration brought the community together for a lively morning of parade, performances, games, and food on 2 August. The programme began with school reporting and bussing to Central Manpower Base, followed by the parade form-up, an ActiveSG workout, the National Anthem, and a series of community performances and activities. The carnival opened at 10:00am and added a festive, family-friendly atmosphere to the event.

SportCares Family Day 2026 kicked off bright and early, and the energy was already buzzing. By the time the crowd gathered at the amphitheater, laughter from ice-breakers and excited chatter filled the air. From kids to seniors, everyone found their place, both literally and figuratively, as the community came together under one theme: One Community, One Family. Even before the official start, it was clear this was more than just an event. It was a shared experience.

250 guests packed a Shunfu void deck — seniors playing mahjong and drone soccer, Sparkletots children drumming alongside their elders, ministers and community partners all in the same room. SMS Dr Janil Puthucheary and MOS Gan Siow Huang pressed a button that lit up the word "SPARKLE," and the applause that followed felt like more than ceremony. It felt like a community declaring that its elders matter.

Singapore is on the cusp of becoming a super-aged society, and the infrastructure to support that has to be built now. The AAC @ Shunfu serves 1,918 seniors with active ageing programmes, health screenings, befriending services, and more — all from a void deck at Blk 301. One centre, one neighbourhood, but a model worth replicating at scale across every ageing estate in this country.

The line from PCF Sparkle Care that stayed with me: ageing is not just about growing old, it is about Growing with Sparkle. Watching seniors lead fitness sessions, perform ukulele, and school the VVIPs at pool — I believed every word of it. Grateful for the mic, and even more grateful for the room.
