250 guests packed a Shunfu void deck — seniors playing mahjong and drone soccer, Sparkletots children drumming alongside their elders, ministers and community partners all in the same room. SMS Dr Janil Puthucheary and MOS Gan Siow Huang pressed a button that lit up the word "SPARKLE," and the applause that followed felt like more than ceremony. It felt like a community declaring that its elders matter.

Singapore is on the cusp of becoming a super-aged society, and the infrastructure to support that has to be built now. The AAC @ Shunfu serves 1,918 seniors with active ageing programmes, health screenings, befriending services, and more — all from a void deck at Blk 301. One centre, one neighbourhood, but a model worth replicating at scale across every ageing estate in this country.

The line from PCF Sparkle Care that stayed with me: ageing is not just about growing old, it is about Growing with Sparkle. Watching seniors lead fitness sessions, perform ukulele, and school the VVIPs at pool — I believed every word of it. Grateful for the mic, and even more grateful for the room.
