Event: DSO Amazing Race Teambuilding
Date: March 2012
Venue: Singapore
150 staff participated in this morning's teambuilding event. Similar to the Amazing Race television series, 15 teams raced across the western and central part of Singapore to complete a series of stations and challenges. Starting at Kent Ridge Park (just behind DSO), I commenced the event with a roaring welcome to all the participants and led a series of "energizers" activities to lift the morning dullness out of everyone. The participants moved readily into groups and their first challenge was to think of a team name. An interesting team name caught my attention. This group called themselves "MAO" - Moving As One.
The race was flagged off and all participants went on their way. We were greeted with slight drizzle, but that did not dampen everyone's spirit. And thankfully, the rain cleared and it was fine weather throughout the morning. Moving from stations to stations, taking on challenges, solving quizes and hints to their next destination, everyone contributed in any way that they could. Not forgetting, the laughters and cheers that rode alongside each group.
The final destination of the race was at Fort Canning Centre. Getting ready with the event organizers, as the teams came rolling in, I greeted and congratulated each team for having completed the challenges. Sumptuous lunch buffet spread was prepared for everyone for the job well done!
Scores were tabulated and teams waited eagerly for their results. I led everyone with some additional energizers by beating and drumming on the drums provided. That totally lifted their spirits even higher for the afternoon's activities organized by Drum Cafe (http://www.drumcafe.com/). The results were announced and elated winners came forward to claim their prized trophies, not forgetting the group photography of course!
To all the great participants of DSO, Well done!
