Event: National University of Singapore(NUS) School of Computing Graduation Night 2013
Date: July 2013
Guest of Honour
Dr David S. Rosenblum
Dean, School of Computing
We have graduated finally!
It wasn't just any event for the graduates of the Class of 2013. It was the celebration that they have been working for the last 4 years. A long anticipated celebration, and definitely going to be a esctatic night of fun, laughter and memories. After all, who gets to attend graduation night all the time?
The evening started with sharing by Dr David, the Dean of the School of Computing and his wise words to the graduates - Change is the only constant you embrace. For him, he shared that the technology that existed when he was an undergraduate doesn't even exist now. The only way is to keep changing with the times and the technology.
Another highlight of the evening was a pre-recorded video of the staff dedication and farewell message to the graduates. One of the professor said something very meaningful (I wished I heard from the professor when I was a graduate by then!). He shared that it is very difficult to find something that you really like to do and are passionate about. However, it would be easier to keep trying and find out the things that you don't like. Without trying hard enough, you won't find out the answers of what you don't like.
As the evening went on with saxophone recital and pop songs rendition, everyone was getting into the mood. The key highlight of the evening were special performance by the professors, Prof Hugh Anderson and Prof Aaron Tan, whom sang and played the guitar. It was very heartwarming to see professors performing for the graduates.
NUS SOC Class of 2013, you guys are wonderful.
If I could share one advice... Remember, the world is your oyster. go forth and make your mark in whatever you do.
