Nielsen Dinner & Dance 2007: Masquerade

Event: Nielsen Dinner & dance 2007 Theme: Masquerade Date: 14th Dec 2007 Venue: Holiday Inn Singapore Pax: ~180 Style! Emcee: The committee this year decided to organise the D&D with the theme Masquerade. All the tables were set up with black table cloth and black seat covers. It suited impeccably well, especially together with the chandeliers that hanged from the ceiling. The entire setup delivered an impressive gothic and sombre feel when one walks into the ballroom. The regional director gave everyone a pleasant surprise when he entered the ballroom in his Phantom of the Opera costume. The soundtrack was played and everyone had a wonderful surprise. The chandeliers on the ceiling complemented his entrance and suited very well together with the original plot of the story. Style! mc started the evening with a simple warm up (milking the cow) after everyone had a serious conference prior to the dinner. The crowd surprisingly was receptive to the warm up even when dinner was served at 8 plus. It was a nice endeavor to transit the event from a serious conference to a fun-filled D&D. The crowd was simply mad! The first round of games (movie star) got everyone involved and you could feel the entire atmosphere lifted up. Everyone was then tested on their knowledge of movies soundtracks. Real fun! The highlight of the evening was the Best Dressed Female and Best Dressed Table. In line with their theme, there were tables of people whom came in similar attires and battled it out to win the Best Dressed Table contest! There were the crooks & baddies, impersonation, hot devils, beauty queens and dragon ladies (resemble Uma Thurman in Kill Bill). Best Dressed Female was a real shocker. To my surprise, some ladies were giving their best shot and showing all their hot moves. Impressive! The lady whom took away the champion title got standing ovation from everyone on the floor. The final finale item was a lightstick light-up ceremony. Everyone was given a light stick to connect within their group and ultimately from their respective groups to connect into one big Nielsen circle. The circle symbolised their commonalities of goals achieiving, commaderie, and most important the ability to unite as one big Nielsen Family. After the final lucky draw, although the participants were still enjoying their desserts, style! emcee gave the crowd a good reason to dance by conducting a mass dance for everyone. Everyone learnt the Ketchup Dance and had a good time working out those excessive calories! As it is never complete to send well-wishings and blessings during this festive season, style! emcee initiated a mass birthday song for the lucky December babies. I am sure it must have been memorable and significant to have 180 people in the audience to sing the Happy Birthday tune. To my amazement, the regional managing director stayed after the dinner and got his feets and hands boogie-ing on the dance floor! It was a great event and definitely many would agree that they had an awesome load of fun! **If you are one of the attendees, please drop me a comment. Thanks!**
