National University of Singapore (NUS) School of Computing Graduation Night 2013

Event: National University of Singapore(NUS) School of Computing Graduation Night 2013
Date: July 2013

Guest of Honour
Dr David S. Rosenblum
Dean, School of Computing

We have graduated finally!

It wasn't just any event for the graduates of the Class of 2013. It was the celebration that they have been working for the last 4 years. A long anticipated celebration, and definitely going to be a esctatic night of fun, laughter and memories. After all, who gets to attend graduation night all the time?

The evening started with sharing by Dr David, the Dean of the School of Computing and his wise words to the graduates - Change is the only constant you embrace. For him, he shared that the technology that existed when he was an undergraduate doesn't even exist now. The only way is to keep changing with the times and the technology.

Another highlight of the evening was a pre-recorded video of the staff dedication and farewell message to the graduates. One of the professor said something very meaningful (I wished I heard from the professor when I was a graduate by then!). He shared that it is very difficult to find something that you really like to do and are passionate about. However, it would be easier to keep trying and find out the things that you don't like. Without trying hard enough, you won't find out the answers of what you don't like.

As the evening went on with saxophone recital and pop songs rendition, everyone was getting into the mood. The key highlight of the evening were special performance by the professors, Prof Hugh Anderson and Prof Aaron Tan, whom sang and played the guitar. It was very heartwarming to see professors performing for the graduates.

NUS SOC Class of 2013, you guys are wonderful.

If I could share one advice... Remember, the world is your oyster. go forth and make your mark in whatever you do.

JTB Annual Dinner & Dance - Hawaiian Night 2013

Event: JTB Annual Dinner & Dance - Hawaiian Night 2013
Date: May 2013
Venue: Jewel Box Mt Faber

A wonderful night with the good guys from JTB!

Perfect Moments, Always!

As the tour coaches pulled into the driveway of Jewel Box, the lovely ladies and suave gentlemen decked in Hawaiian styled outfit made their entrance into the ballroom. The evening sunset, coupled with the scenic view of Sentosa and the cable cars, put the mood of song, dance and fun into everyone.

The evening commenced  with a slow Tahitian dance number that got everyone clapping and cheering for the dancers on the stage. The next dance, along with rhythmic drum beats and a faster tempo, was joined in by JTB management staff. Seeing the management staff on stage, gyrating their hips and swaying to the beat, fellow colleagues started paparazzi photography, snapping and moving to the beat at the same time.

Games and more dances went on. One of the highlights was Lay Cheng, well-known as Dim Sum, with her local antics and jokes, left the audience laughing gaily. As the evening rolled on, all the audience started standing up and joining in the finale item - The Best Dress Dance contest. It was so much good fun, good energy and good spontaneity from the audience.

As they say, JTB - Just The Best!

Through this highly-participatory approach, a place of many places - conceptualised by residents, for residents – was designed.

Multiple agencies such as the Ministry of Health, National Environment Agency, National Heritage Board, National Library Board, Housing Development Board and Singapore Sports Council will come together to offer programmes, activities and services that meets residents’ needs. Facilities like the dance studio, Town Square and Culinary Studio co-located within the Tampines Regional Library will enable everyone to pursue a myriad variety of interests in the arts, culture and sports.

SMB Electric Dinner and Dance 2013

Event: SMB Electric Dinner and Dance 2013
Date: April 2013
Venue: Grand Ballroom, Orchid Country Club

IT'S SHOWTIME!

Presenting to you, Singapore's popular emcee Richard Style!

SMB Electric Dinner and Dance 2013 was a great success, all thanks to the hard work of the organizing committee and the events company, whom made everything possible! All the staff, from management to production workers had a wonderful time this evening. Ladies were very well dressed and some came in their national costumes as they were from different countries.

The evening programme was made perfect by the lovely Shining Sisters 闪亮姐妹 (they acted as Ken Chow's twin sisters in the movie - Ah Boys To Men) as they performed to songs in various languages. And not forgetting the comedy special performed by Kiki and Ms Mole. It was so much fun!

Well done SMB Electric! I had so much fun tonight.

Are you ready to party?

My hairdo is looking good today!

Sulzer ASP Sales Conference 2013

Event: Sulzer ASP Sales Conference 2013
Date: April 2013
Venue: Holiday Inn Atrium

The evening event was held as a dinner celebration for sales colleagues across the globe whom participated in the sales conference in Singapore. In my interaction with some of the participants, there were some who came as far as Zurich, Australia, Korea, India, and China. Taking the chance while they are here, I thought it would be good to conduct some team bonding games and getting everyone to know each other better. (In a multi-national company setting, having the chance to meet colleagues from all parts of the world is a good way to strengthen working relationships and also to share ideas.)

Wishing all the participants whom I met a fruitful conference and safe travels back home!

Azbil Annual Dinner and Dance 2013

Event: Azbil Annual Dinner and Dance 2013
Date: April 2013
Venue: ParkRoyal on Pickering
Theme: Wild Wild West

This is my first event at this new hotel Park Royal on Pickering, a spanking new hotel with ultra stylish decorations at the lobby as well as in the ballrooms. Very modern and chic looking, definitely my kind of hotel. Even the ballroom that the event was held at was absolutely stunning, with shining polished dance floor instead of the typical parquet dance floor.

The event kick off with an opening address from the Managing Director, followed by a heart warming speech by the outgoing chairman before introducing the new chairman up on stage. The outgoing chairman proposed a toast to thank all the staff for their support and hard work.

As the event went on, the fun and games as well as belly dance performance from Desert Roses Belly Dance group (http://www.mildlily.com) set the mood really rowdy. It was so much fun with the guys (oh, Azbil has more guys than ladies) cheering and clapping along, encouraging their colleagues and bosses to join in the fun.

The finale game was the Best Dressed and one of the male staff came in a female cowboy tribal suit. He hired a make-up artiste and got himself the costume, making him really impressive. Needless to say, he won the top prize for his courage and great entertainment!

It's Azbil Wild Wild West!

It's cowboy showtime!

Event: Health Promotion Board Lose To Win Celebrates A Year of Good Health (Part 2)
Date: April 2013
Time: 1pm - 5pm
Venue: HPB Auditorium

Today event is the second part of the celebration for the one-year anniversary of the Lose To Win 3!

We had a great turnout today, with many of the participants from the previous week returning to join us! It's great to see everyone in high spirits!

Trainer Kelvin Ong (www.kvo.com.sg) gave great tips on how to Think On Your Feet during speeches and presentations as well as helped the participants to better understand themselves through Behavioural Profiling Test.

I conducted a mini indoor tele-match, putting their brains and brawns to the test. The teamwork was highly commendable with team mates cheering and clapping while their team was giving their very best. After all the fun and games, every member of the winning team walked away with some NTUC vouchers!

Thank you guys for having me host the event for the past two weeks!

Stay Positive!

Date: April 2013
Time: 6pm - 10.30pm
Venue: Standard Chartered, Marina Bay Financial Centre

The theme for the event was "Around The World", so I decided to put on the traditional Indian costume - Kuta, to host the evening for the wonderful staff of Standard Chartered. Among their big events like Dinner and Dance and Family Day, the Annual General Meeting (AGM) is also one great chance for a big number of staff to come together, eat drink and make merry!

The evening started off with the AGM and welcoming the new committee. Taking the stage first was an in-house band put together by staff from various departments and they ignited the evening with their lively rendition of songs from Bon Jovi and many more! Another great highlight of the evening was local Singapore malay comedian Farkah Fuzz, whom took to the stage and sent everyone laughing away.

The greatest highlight of the evening was the Best Dressed contest where winners walked away with Apple iPad Mini. The female winner was a lovely lady dressed in Cambodian traditional costume. She was stunning!
