Date: Nov 2012
Venue: Resorts World Sentosa, Convention Centre Ballroom
Guest of Honour

Minister in Prime Minister's Office

Second Minister for Trade and Industry
Distinguished Guests:
1. Mr Lim Chuan Poh (Chairman, A*STAR)
2. Dr Raj Thampuran (Managing Director, A*STAR)
3. Prof Low Teck Seng (CEO, National Research Foundation)
4. Prof Chong Tow Chong (Provost, Singapore University of Technology and Design)
Data Storage Institute celebrated its 20th Anniversary tonight and also launched the DSI 5mm hybrid hard disk drive. DSI’s new generation of hybrid thin drive, the ‘A Drive’, the first made-in-Singapore 5mm hybrid drive in 2.5" form factor, is the realization of more than a year-long vision, a milestone achievement. The ‘A Drive” will enable higher performance at lower power consumption, as it addresses limitations of the popular yet expensive flash-based solid state drives as well as conventional hard disk drives.
The 5mm thin hybrid drive is enabled by DSI’s proprietary axial field motor, dedicated servo technology and hybrid data management technology. At 5mm thin, the 'A Drive' is targeted for mobile devices such as tablets and ultrabooks as well as for future data centres. The integration of hybrid drives to data centres will enable more efficient data management, shorten operating speeds and reduce power consumption by up to 50%.
Performances were lined up to entertain our local and overseas guests.
1. NUS Symphony Orchestra (Strings Quartet)
The NUS strings quartet is a group formed by members of the NUS Symphony Orchestra who have great passion for music. They have been performing together for many years in formal events as well as for charity events. Through music, they hope to bring joy to the people in Singapore.
2. NUS Wind Symphony, Saxophone quartet.
ince its inception in 1968, NUS Wind Symphony is one of the pioneering bands in Singapore. Under the management of NUS Centre For the Arts, the wind orchestra places emphasis on creating quality music and exposing itself to a wide range of repertoire.
3. Ms Stephanie Stacey Lee, an accomplished local sand artist
Stacey graduated from Lasalle College of the Arts where she majored in Media Arts – Animation and Fine Art. The time in college provided Stacey with lots of exposures to many different mediums, techniques and materials to her artworks. It was also during this time that she discovered her strengths in art, especially painting and animation. Stacey has decided to become a full time sand painter in 2010, and aspires to move her sand art to even greater heights, gaining fame and recognition locally and internationally.
May this celebration mark the making of new friendships, the renewal of goodwill, and the continuation of great research partnerships for years to come.

JusClean Services 1st Anniversary Dinner & Dance 2012
Event: JusClean Services 1st Anniversary Dinner & Dance 2012
Date: July 2012
Venue: Carlton Hotel, Singapore
(Richard Style Emcee) JusClean Services held their first Dinner and Dance at Carlton Hotel tonight and it was a great success. The event was the first in the history of the company and also the first for the staff from various parts of Singapore to gather in one place - getting to know their fellow colleagues. At the same time, the management showed recognition for the dedication and hard work by the staff and gave away over 47 service awards.
Most of the staff were very well-dressed and arrived with great excitement. To allow the staff sufficient time to dress up, they were given few hours off from work to return home and get themselves ready. In addition, as there were staff performing on stage, these staff took additional efforts to practice and rehearse, so as to bring on a great show for everyone.
The audience was very spontaneous and gracefully stepped forward to take part in all the activities arranged for them. It was great to see everyone letting their hair down and enjoying the event with good food, fun and games. To my surprise, during the Best Dressed segment, we had 10 ladies whom were nominated by the audience! Everyone was cheering and clapping for their favourite Best Dressed!
The finale of the event ended with a Grand Lucky Draw and heartfelt words of thanks from the staff. Many of the staff have retired and grateful for the opportunities provided by the company to re-enter the work force and contribute in one way or another to the society.
Thank you JusClean! I look forward to being with you all again. :)

Group Activity
Evaluation by Richard
We were invited to organized a series of indoor and outdoor team-building activities at Bintan Lagoon Resort for a 2D1N Team-building cum retreat for all the staff. The focus was to strengthen the teamwork and team spirit through activities focusing on creativity, teamwork and communication.
The staff morale held up high and everyone was keen to participate in all the activities. Activities were designed to allow each team member to lead and also to cooperate. Unlike in a sports telematch, where teams win as a result of stronger physique finesse, these activities challenged a myriad set of diverse strengths and abilities of each team member. Teams whom did excellent in one activity did not necessary outperform in every other activity. Most importantly, at the end of the day, teams whom were faster in completing the tasks ended up taking the initiative to cheer and help the slower teams. That's the spirit of team-building!
With the fun, laughter and spirits held up high, the event rounded up with a sumptuous dinner celebration with great sharing of the day's activities.
Well done everyone! I am glad to have been part of your retreat. Thank you and see you all again!
