Wedding Celebrations in the Skies

I was honoured to be invited to host the wedding dinner celebration for Kenny and Betty. The entire celebration was held at 1-Altitude. The couple had their solemnization at the rooftop bar (probably the tallest point in Raffles Place or the Central Business District in Singapore). Here are some photos of the venue and decorations:

Family members were invited to be part of the celebration to encourage greater bonding and cohesion among staff and their families. The half day event featured a variety of fringe activities such as souvenir photography, caricature and face painting. Other fun segments included Rodeo Bull Challenge and Fearless Gladiator Competition, where everyone was encouraged to try their hands and beat the best record  within the various categories. Takashimaya vouchers were given out to participating teams as well as winners of the various challenges.

The event commenced with the opening address by the general manager and to the audience's surprise, a parrot flew from the back of the room, over the heads of the audience and delivered the script into the hands of the general manager. Following the speech, the management together with all staff toasted with glasses of red wine to commemorate the 20th anniversary celebration and the milestones achievements of the company.

The event was a great success and a Facebook page was created to showcase the great laughters and smiles of the participants.

" I am going to make him an offer he can't refuse." - Pasta Mafia

The theme for this event is Pasta Mafia, and all the staff came dressed up to the theme. It was an exciting event as staff from outlets all across the island were given time off to prepare and turned up in their best.

The evening started with a very motivating speech from the CEO, sharing the vision of the company and achievements in 2011. The Long Service Awards was next up, as deserving individuals whom have contributed consistently and diligently were recognized by the company. Apart from the long service awards, the company presented awards to staff and outlets with best performance and encouraged others to achieve better results this year.

When the announcement for free flow started, everyone cheered and headed to the bar counters and got their rounds. As always, you cannot go wrong with music and drinks. After dinner, the emcee started some games contests and that got everyone cheering and clapping for their representatives on stage.

The organizers planned a special birthday surprise for a staff whose birthday falls on the actual day. It was a real sweet surprise for her and all the staff joined in the birthday song led by the emcee. When the time came for the dance floor to be opened, everyone poured onto the dance floor and some came onto the stage, showing their moves and gyrating to the beats.

After a dance segment, the emcee came on stage to conduct the lucky draw. Audience eagerly took out their invitation cards and waited for their numbers to be called. Top 10 prizes were presented on stage, and the remaining 190 prizes were pre-drawn.

Everyone continued dancing and just before the clock struck 12, Those whom did not win earlier were treated to another round of special draw as a surprise. It was a great way to top off the event on a high note!

JAC Recruitment 25th Anniversary Celebrations

Event: JAC Recruitment 25th Anniversary Celebrations
Date: March 2012
Venue: Tanglin Club

A joyous occasion for all the staff from various locations around the globe, as they gather to commemorate the 25th anniversary of JAC Recruitment. From a humble beginning, today JAC Recruitment is one of the most successful and well-established international recruitment consultancies in the world.

The evening started with grandeur, as the Managing Director and CFO welcome and congratulated everyone, attributing the success to the staff's hard work and dedication. Awards were presented for excellent performance as well as dedicated long service and contribution to the company.

Among the highlights of the evening was an excellent flamingo dance performance put up by the staff (Mr Konno). His sharp and precise dance moves, accompanied by the nifty footwork and rhythmic tap dancing, left the audience asking for more the moment he completed. It was totally exhilarating even as I watched from the side of the stage.

Another great highlight was a staff whom was caught up on stage by me, stood on the chair and candidly gestured his love to another colleague. At the request of the audience, he sang the song "The Moon Represents My Heart" with great passion and that was such a sweet moment for all in the ballroom. (It was a light-hearted jovial moment too!)

The night went on with many great joyous moments and highlights and everyone had a wonderful time. This 25th Anniversary will certainly be a memorable one for many in the years to come!

Thank you.

Pacific International Lines 45th Anniversary Celebration

Event: Pacific International Lines (PIL) 45th Anniversary Celebrations
Date: March 2012
Venue: Grand Copthorne Waterfront

It was a night for the 550 staff to let their hair down, have fun and commemorate the 45th anniversary of the company. Many of the staff have dedicated their service to the company and grew along with the company over the years. At the Long Service Award presentation, there were several individuals receiving the 40 years long service award. Impressive!

Throughout the night, the most impressive and touching moment was the entire ballroom stood up and applauded continuously as the chairman came onto the stage to deliver the address. I could sense the respect and reverence for the chairman whom built the company over the last 45 years.

As it was a night for the staff, there were stage and floor games to engage everyone among the audience. The spirit was extremely high and audience rushed onto the stage to take part in the games.

2012 Global Outlook Investment Forum (Shanghai)

Event: 2012 Global Outlook Investment Forum (Shanghai)
Date: 10 March 2012
Time: 2pm - 5pm
Venue: Shanghai

I was invited to host and deliver a speech at this 2012 Global Outlook Investment Forum organized by one of the banks in Singapore for their offshore clients. The last time I hosted in Shanghai was in 2006-2007, followed by Beijing in 2009. Shanghai has changed quite a bit since my last visit.

Taking the time in between the preparation and the actual day of the forum, the only place I visited was the Bund. The overall look and feel have improved a lot and it is so well developed. I loved it there. As I was putting up beside Nanjing Pesdestrian Mall (南京步行街), I also leisurely took a stroll down the mall. It is a whole new different feeling. It feels so much more metropolitan now as compared to the first time I visited in 2002.

I have enjoyed my Shanghai trip very much this time and most importantly am glad that the forum went well with applause for the well-crafted speech. Looking forward to my next overseas event in April.
